the only con is the one SCC management are pulling with Glass door reviews. the only reviews that SCC have replied to are the shall we say management sponsored reviews. all of the factual reviews have not been replied to at all. all the glowing reports from so called employees are fiction. pure and somple
Advice to Management
what can I say . a multinational corporation that has no form of pay scales that anyone is allowed to see. no structure regarding qualifications acheved . some management are very good at what they do. instead SCC promote the ones that have no idea how to manage people.

Pros
Some great people in the company (non management), very knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with. Unfortunately this is masked by poor management and nearly all treated unfairly. The parking at the HQ in Birmingham amongst other sites dotted around the country are excellent, always parking available.
Cons
Management are a shambles, they have no idea what they’re doing. Unsafe working sites with asbestos amongst other hazards with NO clear warnings without finding out yourself. Poor health and safety throughout the company with many incidents taking place throughout the year. Work/life balance is one of the worst you’ll find, management have no care about your safety nor do they care if you have had a rest or not before your next shift starts. Culture/values is rock bottom, ive read some reviews about it being a family run business and a warming environment? this is not true at all and i’ve spoken to a number of colleagues throughout the company who hold all different titles and positions. I do not understand this.
Advice to Management

Pros
Its OK if you’re 18 years old, can handle the unrealistic and ridiculous company politics and plan for a very short term stay (6 months) to boost your CV. Or as a contractor.
Cons
When all staff joined SCC they always used their personal email address, SCC management never did ask us to change it to a scc dot com email address because the majority of us including field support engineers never did need to email any clients or customers. Its always purely internal to submit your overtime or what not. When SCC management went through numerous layers on a huge overhaul, SCC demanded we used the companies email accounts without any explanation. During this transition period many colleagues ran into ignorant and arrogant managers Without naming names nor exposing any position – Theres been a number of occasion when a member of staff had a run in with a manager (this was unheard of prior to the shake up). Once staff had moved to a scc dot COM email address the threatening, bullying, insulting and intimidating emails started!. Numerous times staff threatened the managers in question to take this further via HR and via Grievance, all times that this was mentioned all of a sudden THAT SAME DAY the threatening, intimidating, bullying and insulting emails were REMOVED from each individuals email account (all other emails in the account were available still). In some cases there was years worth of evidence, with enough evidence to back up any grievance. This is not a one off or a ‘computer glitch’. IT support in romania had no idea what happened apparently. Its 110% clear to see someone within the company Deletes these emails!. The manager/s in question obviously run straight to HR when they suspect a staff member has had enough of the abuse and they obviously pulled their famous ’emergency meeting to try and wiggle their way out of the hole’. Their method on this occasion was to delete email evidence. (N.B no names, individuals, titles are mentioned in this review to protect identities. My job title is also slightly different to protect again titles and identities).

Pros
If you put your head down taking all the garble the management say and accepting without talking back about all the policies and politics within SCC, Which includes completing manual closure jobs so the company can financially gain. Then you SHOULD be ok.
Cons
If you put your head down, taking all thegarble the management say and accepting without talking back about the policies and politics within scc. BUT rejecting to manually close calls (which makes you inaccurate as well as being a con man) then you WILL NOT get very far, you’ll be pushed, shoved, bullied. You’ll have scare tactics played on you and the list is endless.

Bad management on your back all day long – spoke to few engineers 3 years plus service they all said get out if you can get anything better. I did I am very happy now. I have been asked to write a positive review by management – I couldn’t lie just what to say what I saw Managers asked me to be flexible when I updating calls so they fall within SLA. on a number of occasions I was asked to order parts which are not needed so a call can be mitigated.
Cons
No Pay rises according to engineers whose been working for SCC for more the 3-4-5 years. No training No work life balance you are expected to be available 24/7 even on your holidays.

They pay your wages on time. There are good people who work there. They have some interesting clients. Their HR people are getting better at writing Glassdoor reviews!
Cons
There is definitely a culture of bullying and intimidation. It runs to the core. I have worked in several family businesses and this type of behavior can be common practice. Nepotism and narcissism run rife as the low quality generals jostle for position. The organisation has very little integrity left, they lie and cheat as part of normal procedure. Fooling the client into thinking they know what they are doing is common practice in the sales process, then simply getting by becomes the norm once the sale is made. They are struggling to keep up with modern technology trends as they have a seam of “old guard” in middle management that seems to want to hang around for their retirement, denying change and preventing new talent from rising through the ranks. The CEO is relatively young and misinformed by his lieutenants, he simply accepts what they say and always takes the path of least resistance. I am sure he knows what is happening in his organisation but he doesn’t have the minerals to do what’s needed.
Advice to Management
Your company is off course. Weed out the bullies (the ones that shout loudest and usually have your ear) and promote the development of young talent. By doing this a newer, higher level of capability will come through, making SCC a more attractive place to work where good people will want to stay. Once you have good people on board and you stop listening to the old guard, you will see that capability is improved and the levels of service you provide to your clients will too. There will be no need to ‘close your eyes and hope for the best’, you will be back on track. It’s not all about money, cause this will soon dry up when your company becomes a lemon with a very bad reputation.

Pros
Great when you meet up with colleagues for 2, 3 or 4 man jobs or internal training to hear their absolutely crazy stories about scc management. Its the same garbage throughout the company.
Cons
-Incompetent management -Stats driven albeit altered considerably. -Engineers told to alter stats -Managers alter stats -Rules made up on a play as you go basis -Goal posts moved to suit managers -Different rules given to each engineer -Untrained engineers sent on server jobs -Trackers switched on to monitor your movement outside of working hours (mobiles) -Untested electrical items used in customers sites (when a engineer doesnt have the part available for that particular customer) putting lives at risk. This is forced upon by managers. -Third world companies run smoother than this -Did i mention tax evasion? They show off that their fines to their customers (for poor stats and lost SLA’s) have improved considerably, the reason is noted above as to why.
Advice to Management
I have with great pride and passion, submitted evidence of all your poor workmanship to your customers and to your competition. You’ll learn the hard way, Thank you very much.

Pros
The only PRO of my employment with SCC was getting tupe across to its competitor due to loss of customer/contract. Its a definite pro and also a pro that scc cannot hold onto good contracts.
Cons
Management deceive customers on a unprecedented scale, lies, fake stats amongst other criminal behavior. I’ve accompanied colleagues in grievances with the same issues, SCC sweep it all under the carpet. They twist the truth and turn the victim into the criminal. Absolutely shocking and disgusting behavior to watch unfold. I am glad in a way i never did open a grievance, even though i had MANY MANY reasons to do so. Once you do this you are targeted like there is no tomorrow. If an employee of SCC dropped dead one day i am pretty sure scc management would throw a party in the HQ in Birmingham and then employ a 18 year old the next day. Its all about cheaper is better with SCC, N.B that effects workmanship too but they do not care. SCC customers are fully aware of their behavior and SCC’s customer base has dropped significantly in recent years with customers opting to try out their competitors. Some contracts/customers SCC currently have are on a loss basis. Hilarious to watch this untrained, unprofessional management unfold on a daily basis with bizarre decisions every day. But disgusting the way they treat staff and customers. If you are a decent law abiding honest person or company, you’d want to avoid SCC.
Advice to Management
Rather not give any advice to this management. If they cannot work it out by now there is no hope.

What Pros??????????????????????????????? Manual updates to all most all calls through PDA, engineers asked to change time on PDA and close calls within SLA or pretend PDA not working and get call center to close within SLA Parts ordered for no reason at all staff treated like dirty.
Cons
The only reason I am still with SCC after many years because SCC is on my CV, when I contact agencies they are very honest they explain it is much harder to get my CV to potential employer because of SCC – SCC have a very bad reputation ex-employees have complained of bad treatment by management hardly any training no pay rise and no career prospect and no work/life balance Culture of bullying

Get a life. You can not help it can you – you don’t just close calls manually you want to bury negative true reviews with your lies the only reason SCC meets its SLA because of the manual closures.

Any 5 star reviews you see take with a huge pinch of salt. Highly likely the management at work and i find it UNBELIEVABLE it would be genuine colleagues with GENUINE reviews. In fact i will bet my house, car and life 5 star reviews are NOT by employees but faked by management.
Cons
I’ve given SCC around 9 years of solid service (not disclosing the exact). The first 5+ years were excellent, amazing management that help you while you help them. A definite give and take environment whereby everyone was happy at the end of the day. We’d skip out lunch breaks to help out or simply just take 10 minutes lunch and crack on. Unfortunately SCC had a massive change 4 or so years ago, engineers became managers overnight, the same engineers that would fool the system pretending to be on jobs/calls while actually having fixed/sorted the call 30 minutes earlier while having a drink in the local pub to stretch the call out. These SAME engineers are now managers. In the last 4 years SCC have chopped and changed more than any one can count, these ex engineers (now managers) have a great task of watching engineers physically (stalking them and spying) from a distance to see if engineers turned up to a call when they said they did, IRONIC huh?. These new managers have NO managerial experience what so ever, there only known tactic is to bully and intimidate. You WILL NOT be left to do you job. Hence why engineers now (that were good engineers) now stay on the job a LOT longer than needed, so there is LESS harassment. However SCC now call engineers in the office with their ammunition ready with stupid facts like (TV installs take 20 minutes) so ‘why was you onsite for 45 minutes’. Simply we all reply with ‘Because it was difficult and not a standard removal’. And then nothing is done after that, its just a dirty tactic to keep you on your toes. In 9 years service the rate of inflation has increased incredibly, unfortunately ZERO pay rises in the 9 years until now 2015 we got £400 pay rise! CRAZY! so 400 divided by 9 = £44 ish a year pay rise. Talk about insult, i rather not have it then a ridiculous £44 a year extra. Bare in mind SCC have increased profits in the last 4 years by MILLIONS. Employees are NOT respected or treated like human beings. You have been warned, test them at your own risk.
Advice to Management
Well done !you bullied someone, do you feel the power? does it make you feel amazing and of some significance in this world? Does it make you grow a pair ?not physically but in your head? We all know those who bully have a insecurity of their own. Good luck, you’ll need it.

Pros
Some very good people. For me it’s conveniently located, but that’s about it….
Cons
I have sat in meetings with a couple of hundred grand worth of salaries sat around the table and achieved nothing for hours on a regular basis. The company lacks direction, is stymied by internal politics and the drive to cut costs. Some of the most hard working people in the company are paid a pittance when compared with senior people who are not worth their car allowance, let alone their salary. I work with various departments in the company regularly interacting with Sales, Internal Sales, Consultants, Operations, and various administrative departments. 1. No-one is given proper training upon starting. They are taken to head office for a half day orientation. No-one tells them how to use the various tools on the intranet to do their jobs. I regularly have to explain to people in various roles how to update their contact details on the directory, submit a task to another team, or find out who quotes a particular product. This is not part of my job. Usually the gratitude in finding someone who has made the time to be helpful is obvious, but then you have someone who phones you for advice on everything while they are finding their feet. No wonder no-one else does it… 2. No-one will innovate or improve processes. You point out a flaw in a process, report or similar, and people are either afraid, or too lazy to change it. Two responses are common “It’s always been like that” or “what’s the point of changing it?” There is currently a drive to update various internal systems as they are out of date and inadequate, but this means that people are happy to stick with the status quo and await the new, which is probably a couple of years off yet. 3. Specifically on the point of internal systems – there is no central repository for customer information, contract data, etc. We have regularly come across Sales teams and Customer Service Delivery Managers who have no idea what is written in the contracts they are supposed to assisting in or overseeing the delivery of. 4. Sales – Management like to keep sales on their toes and cover up the high employee turnover to customers by doing regular sales shuffles. They fail to understand that people buy from people, not companies and this is highly counter productive. You will lose an account when you screw up if there is no familiar contact to rectify and smooth over the issue ans repair the relationship? 5. Reviews, prospects, support, training…. None existent as far as I can tell outside of Birmingham. I’ve never had a personal review, I’ve been told I cannot be spared for attending training as it’s up at H/O, been told that “you don’t want to be nominated as an SCC champion – it goes on the intranet with a really embarrassing photo”. I had to leave to get a payrise, and coming back was a big mistake, it has only gotten worse. 6. No-one in my team has had a payrise since joining – then biscuits! Don’t make me laugh, how about a proper bonus, or a half day off to do the Christmas shopping? 7. Charity – the company likes to talk about what they do for charity, but the most common thing is making money out of it’s employees. There are constant dress down days for charity, anything from two to four a month at present (contribution recently reduced from £2 to £1) along with other groups doing charity events with encouragement for employees to contribute. How about the company matches our contributions – that would be a real sign of commitment to support these causes and wouldn’t cost the company much? SCC and it’s employees pulling together for a change? 8. Management – they are reactionary, pulling targets out of thin air (as it’s so hard to measure previous achievements), moving goal posts and giving no clear leadership. Most of those I have dealt with in various parts of the organisation seem to do very little to contribute, issues raised are often ignored, or put off. They are often uncontactable when really required to make an actual decision. 9. Romania – I deal with various people over there, and in the most part they are good. But there are issues, there is a bad perception of them with the customers, we find there are often language barriers when requesting work from them (lost in translation) and quality issues. But the primary issue is that no-one appreciates being told (as I have been) that their job may go over to Romania. Customer facing teams don’t stop at the Sales people, lots of the company administrative and operational staff interact with customers regularly and helps shape impressions of the company. Having these jobs go abroad also will harm the company image, quality of interaction with customers (communication, accuracy etc.) and demotivate the remaining staff. 10. Every team in the company is being asked to do more with less people, to a ridiculous degree. Leavers are regularly not replaced, or replacement is put off. Lots of areas of the business have a single person who is the only person who can do a particular process or access a system or record, or sign something off. Not by design, but by attrition. Those that are supposed to cover the gaps fall into two camps – “Computer says no” or those often unsung heroes that will move heaven and earth to try and resolve an issue of they can. We don’t’ have enough of the latter, the company can be very compartmentalised, and people often don’t realise the impact of their roles upon the end results. Teams who only talk via Task manager or email can often end up being obstructive. Sometimes it pays to pick up the phone, do a little investigation, or just check up that someone has got your message? Isolation, lack of communication, lack of understanding of the whole process/picture is a huge problem. People who don’t interact with customers directly, can’t understand the urgency of the person who will have to meet the customer face to face tomorrow? I could go on… There are many individual horror stories regarding practices I’ve seen or experienced which I could recount, but I hope this review will make a difference, and so tried to keep to more general universal issues.
Advice to Management
How about you show some of these reviews to James Rigby, and don’t respond until you have something constructive to say? We can tell from previous responses that no-one in management has actually seen these comments. Stop sticking your heads in the sand – lots in the company is broken, but you don’t have to wait for new internal IT systems to start fixing things. Sticking to the same processes in the new systems will give the same bad results so take the opportunity to improve. Start valuing your staff, do more to retain the people you have and take the time to invest in them to make them more effective. We don’t care about stays in hotels, our face on the intranet or the vague possibility of a holiday. We want better working conditions, the possibility of review, advancement and payrises. Exit interviews would be a really good idea, first company I’ve ever worked for where there are none? And before you come back with the stock response, I have aired all these views to my direct line manager, who is in agreement but is in the same situation, they have taken their views to their line manager and mostly been brushed off or ignored. I shall be leaving as soon as a suitable position presents itself. I cannot live with the frustration that I experience working for this company, and the ironic thing is that those like me who get frustrated are the ones who actually care, take pride in their work and want to improve things. But we feel like we are the few and the company is too set in its ways, too big an animal to change in any meaningful way. How about you prove us wrong?

Got a Biscuit at Christmas 2014 (maybe jaffa cakes in 2015?)
Cons
Pay rise? wont happen regardless. Progression/training?will happen if you can prove yourself. What does it mean by ‘prove yourself’? no not the technical/clever type of proving yourself. If you snitch on a colleague, thats proving yourself. If you fool the system and clock back call closure times for financial gain for the company, thats proving yourself (need to do it plenty of times to be recognized). If you make an assessment visit WITHOUT logging it on the system (for example to order up a part to complete the job) for obvious stats and financial gain to the company, thats proving yourself. Every person in the company from the bottom to near the top are PUPPETS, all completely (or tried to) controlled by string. My pay rise in 7 years service?Christmas 2014 a pack of biscuits (Absolutely ZILCH before that). The management rely on dirty tactics such as, making colleagues fear for their jobs – threatening jobs will be cut if stats do not improve. They push you to complete all your jobs as quickly as possible and say ‘then you can relax’. That NEVER happens (the relaxing part) even if you finish your jobs with 30 minutes left on your shift, a manager will ask you to do a vehicle check, radiator / tyres / brake fluid / handbrake…etc full MOT pre check and then submitting the form off to them. Other times are getting made to travel to a office location to sit there until its ‘home time’. Yep they cannot accept you’re sitting doing something you MAY just enjoy. Dirty management and i’d advise all to AVOID this company, including potential business contracts and potential future customers of SCC. Avoid AvoidAvoid.

Pros? Professionals at scare mongering and running business the WRONG way.. YOU CANNOT READ THE BAD REVIEWS? SIMPLY REGISTER WITH GLASSDOOR AND SCROLL DOWN A FEW PAGES, THE TRUTH IS MASKED BY 5 STAR REVIEWS. Always read BOTH sides of the story. Negatives always outweigh positives in terms of reality, facts.
Cons
SCC continuously fail as a computer/audio visual company, they use scare mongering, mental torturing and bullying to get their own way. Stats and figures come 2nd in their priority list, number 1 priority is to try and bully some poor soul each and every day. For example, i knew a engineer that always managed to get calls where they are working next to rat droppings and even decomposed rats not to mention asbestos. When that engineer complained about it and refused to work on these sites SCC management attacked this engineer like there was no tomorrow as if he was a criminal. They made his life very difficult and always gave him the dirty jobs purposely. Engineers are told they must be accurate with the way they conduct themselves from start of shift till end, that rule of course applies up until a SLA is about to be lost… Then the goal posts can be moved and ‘accurate stats’ become ‘fabricated stats’. For example, engineers attend calls on managers orders to attend a site WITHOUT logging themselves on the system as attending site..they assess for argument sake a PC and order a part. When the part comes they then book themselves onsite on managers orders so that it looks like a scc engineers fixed the fault first time. Another example is the MANUAL CLOSURES and MANUAL CALL EDITING by management when a call will be attended by an engineer outside of SLA, that engineer will be told by manager NOT to book himself onsite and to just repair or assess the issue off the record. Of course SCC management will then manually edit the arrival times and departure times to close the call within SLA. This is a company wide known fact. Furthermore SCC engineers also are forced to attend calls where they are not trained nor capable of doing, such as servers. 22 year old ex trainee carpenters find themselves forced into server calls without any server qualifications let alone basic IT skills. Not only putting themselves at risk but the customer and potentially 100s of the customers employees. This is high high risk business from SCC which has done and will continue to backfire on them. I have not listed a FRACTION of the way SCC operate and conduct themselves. If you want a job where you will be effectively committing fraud which closing calls inside SLA when they wasn’t with big figures(money) at stake IS FRAUD. The major customers that this effects is the big red and the big blue high street betting shops and the black clothing stores..etc.
Advice to Management
I advise management to have a chat with the CEO, advise him you are not qualified for this role and you would like to go back to your engineer job or do something else you will be good at. Ask the CEO to employ qualified managers capable of handling the company the correct way, because if you cared about SCC you would do the right thing and help them out. SCC would flourish under respectable qualified managers that operate in a genuine, honest and upfront manner.

It used to be a great company when I started 9 years ago. They lost the good management and staff to BT and Hitachi Data in 2011 and 2012 and since they have promoted the only people left. They then made a load of redundancies and then other people got promoted for the wrong reasons or moved to different departments if current line management didn’t like them. Very much a ‘face fit’ culture. James Rigby needs to take a good look at some of managers and really speak to staff to find out opinion before the reputation is completely destroyed and all of the good staff have left. I once loved working here but all I see are miserable people and demotivation. A box of biscuits (albeit luxury ones) was a bit of a kick in the teeth as we have not had so much as a Christmas card previously. Tracy Westall is an absolute asset to the company although many may disagree.

Poor company at its very best, high staff turnover with only the older staff hanging around despite no pay rises or promotions to the hard working loyal staff. Some older staff been around for maybe 10 years on the same old salary, these people are too old to move on, just like that old saying ‘you cannot teach a old dog new tricks’. SCC use these staff as examples of them being a great company, truth is speak with these old guys directly and you will hear quite the opposite. This company is on the DOWN and has been for the last 5 or 6 years. Proof is in the pudding with there failed attempted to lure any good contracts in, only the little pokey ones have taken the gamble with SCC. Despite year on year cut backs, chopping and changing and a steady profits rising, SCC STILL fail to reward their existing staff with benefits other than a free umbrella or biscuits at christmas 2014 (nothing for the previous christmas’s) Best bet is to steer clear of this company, you’ll be glad i offered this advice i promise.

*Loss of life *No career progression *No pay rises *Demanding management *Unrealistic targets *Bully counseling meetings *Demand overtime (3 hours in this time they will not pay out as they say its free traveling) *Trackers on the vans, they watch your every move *Trackers on the PDA systems, they watch your every move in your house! *Management use their trusted random excuse/lie generator to lie to customers *Tax dodging *Plenty of dissatisfied customers *Plenty of dissatisfied current and ex staff *Not a single person happy in the company (below management) *Make a noise even within reason and watch you get slowly dragged across the floor to the point of no return *Impossible to book annual leave even 12 months in advance. *Company just cannot keep good staff *Dead wood staff only now exist, unlikely to get a job elsewhere *SCC prey on untrained people who usually work in lesser paid roles and take advantage *You;ll be doing more than your contract states, in fact at least 3 job roles in 1 go on 1 single salary *got to use your own printer, own ink, own paper, own tape, own glue and OWN TIME to submit overtime/expenses *SCC say if they ask you to do overtime you cannot get paid for the first hour even when your onsite working!. *Lots of dodgey OTL’s and OPS managers, fighting to keep their jobs by undertaking ridiculous tasks I have seen it all, i wish i could help unsuspected people avoid this shambles of what they call a company.

“AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE SCC is ethically bankrupt company ”

Current Employee – IT in Ashford, Kent, South East England, England
Doesn’t Recommend
Negative Outlook
I have been working at SCC full-time (More than a year)
Pros
You and your colleagues will form strong bonds through your common suffrage (there are many nice people working there; expect to see people in tears on a regular basis). There is a policy for just about everything. The staff manual and then there are a bunch of supplemental policy documents. The policies are entirely discretionary, so you get to follow them but management will do whatever they want. A good but shocking example was when senior management withdrew 3 hours compassionate leave from a colleague (although it had been granted by his line manager) who’s mother had just been diagnosed with terminal cancer (and who died 5 weeks later). If you are lucky enough to come over to SCC via TUPE, then you can be secure in the knowledge that (if they want shot of you) they will figure out a way to get rid of you by making life as awkward as possible. If you would like to work for an ethically bankrupt company then this will be your dream job.
Cons
In my opinion, management position themselves to have complete control over you. A lot is captured in policy but don’t expect them to stick to that. They may use policy against you and ignore it when suits them. It’s “our way or the highway”. Even if you choose the highway, senior management may become spiteful and make your exit very uncomfortable. I saw this happen several times and overheard their plotting too. Lack of professional ethics – you could expect to see (or be a victim of) severe bullying. I witnessed an individual routinely bullied to the point where myself and other colleagues were worried about his mental well-being. They may threaten your reputation or to damage your career if you go fall-out with them. Unless you can afford to sue them, don’t fall out with them! Be meek and subdued, become the victim they want you to be and try to escape with as few ripples as possible. Make written records of any incidents issues / call ACAS to get advice if you are concerned about anything. I’ve heard accounts from colleagues of mangers being totally humiliated at the senior managers meetings. I’ve witnessed staff being asked to complete tasks that they don’t know how to approach and given no support from senior management (other than being chastised for doing a poor job). Ask for clarification at your peril. You may be derided, berated and treated like an idiot for several hours (and called back in every day for a week for a re-run each day). But during all these hours they will lavish on you, you may not receive any actual guidance as that (ironically) would be considered a waste of their time. -Poor working environment -Hitler mentality as far as work ethics and compassion therefore high turnover -They will fire you more quickly than you can blink -No progression what so ever -Directors out of touch and don’t value their employees -Huge contract written mainly in their benefit -Dont expect a raise
Advice to Management
Your staff are humans. Treat them as such. Speak to them and listen to what they have to say. Use less stick and more carrots. If you can’t do any of that then consider going into battery chicken farming where the whole operation is largely automated and the “only” victims will be the chickens.

Pros
The day I left!!! Some excellent people, some great technology, the intent to grow. The sales side of the business is excellent with a totally different culture. Your rewarded if your seen to adopt the militant attitude of senior managers. CEO is very inspirational, personable and warm, we need more of this please!
Cons
Management rule with an iron rod, if you challenge, suggest, or propose any suggestions for improvement they are immediately rejected. Any business is all about the people. The only people that stay are those without experience to offer, those that are so poor they cannot get a job elsewhere, or those that like being sheep. Finally, those that think they can change the culture stay, then leave when they realise they can’t! Those that do make suggestions are seen as trouble-makers and are targeted to manage out and make people’s life hell. Flexibility is one way, the expectation to travel is high and people regularly clock up 3,000 – 4,000 miles per month. However working at home is not permitted (we don’t trust you) and you must be in the office 9-5:30 regardless of the fact you were on a P1 call till gone 4am!!!!
Advice to Management
Bring back a confidential employee survey that promises annominity. Remove the dictatorship, fear culture, and regain trust of your most valuable asset, your people. Bring in some external consultants to talk directly to the staff, listen to what they have to say. Review your attrition, HR should offer a face to face exit interview as people may only speak freely when they leave and are safe from retribution. Succession plan, retention plans for top talent, recognise contribution. Stop posting fake reviews…. It would be more credible to make some significant changes and introduce an employee engagement plan. Coach and train your managers on what language is politically correct when describing someone… It is no longer 1970 Recognise people need coaching, development, we are humans we make mistakes that is how we learn. Empower people to make decisions, trust them, believe in them. Perhaps the new HR Director could review the leavers for the past 12 months and contact them to understand why they left…

Pros
Other IT analysts that I worked with were good guys. Also, my direct manager was very helpful when I needed a favour etc. Monday – Friday hours so it’s nice to have the weekends off.
Cons
No career progression (even though I was told there was when I joined). For example, some of their IT departments are based in Romania which means virtually no chance of being promoted to certain positions. Majority of the companies third line support (Infrastructure, etc) is all based in Romania. As SCC’s IT is all about outsourcing for other companies, all they care about is the stats at the end of each day and they don’t care about you as a person. Below market wages, no one to ones, no company benefits and no pay rises AT ALL (unless you’re high up the chain already and you hand your notice in). Furthermore, in your contract it says that you should get a wage review every year (although everyone I worked with said they had never had one – including myself)! And the biggest issue for me was absolutely no training. For a company who boasts at being the biggest privately owned IT company in Europe, you would expect, at the very least, to have some sort of IT training (certifications, etc). EDIT: After reading through the last couple of months worth of reviews, I was quite disappointed to see what I had found. The ones I’m referring to are the “5 star” reviews coming from Bham HQ. In each review the cons range from “the place looks a little tired” to “not good for people who don’t like change”. These reviews are so obviously fake it’s laughable. –My advice would be to try and speak to someone who is a ex/current employee and you’ll understand why these reviews are laughable (hint: LinkedIn).
Advice to Management
Take some serious consideration about providing employee benefits and improving the way SCC look at their employees. They are the ones that drive the company forward and are the only reason the company makes so much money every year. Some gratification once in a while would be delightful. Some IT specific training courses and wage reviews (which are supposed to happen but don’t) would be a VERY good start.

Pros
This is not meant to be a joke, its a true fact. SCC have no positives. – Do not be fooled with fake positive reviews. Believe real employees and not the management making positive reviews to boost its rating and counter balance the reviews. Every single employee (other than management) are very unhappy. Always talk to an employee OFF the record before committing to SCC.
Cons
For many years irecieved absolutely diddly squat from this company ZERO pay increases ZERO positive guidance ZERO pat on your backs or well dones ZERO progessions (except made a grade 3 engineer without any pay rise, an attempt to string me along) ZERO acknowledgement of hard work where ive gone above and beyond the call of duty. ZERO anything positive, i am ashamed to have stayed for so long. What i did get was -Counselling forms (bullying tactic, a little like a school boy detention) -Abuse in person or on the phone (so nothing is recorded, documented or witnessed) -Meeting after meeting which only turns out to be a bullying meeting -Lies after lies -Nonsense after nonsense What i did get for christmas 2014 though was a box of cheap biscuits. Maybe they are thinking the biscuits work in the same way as a pay rise? A biscuit a year keeps the pay rises away? You see like the managers, everyone is strung along and treated like a dog chasing the bone. The management make out there is light at the end of the tunnel, they try string you along with the ‘GRADE 3’ or ‘CHAMPION ENGINEER’ title with absolutely ZERO pay rise, credit or acknowledgement for your hard work. A real dirty, nasty bunch of people running this show. Try and combine Hitler, ISIL and nasy nick from eastenders together. You have SCC.

“BAD COMPANY ”

Negative Outlook

Pros
It has been noticed and noted that the SCC company have in past couple of month been trying to counter the negative reviews made by current and past employees concerning the treatment of staff and business practices. There have been reviews from October, November &ongoing, sourcing, all or most from SCC HQ in Birmingham area, giving 100% positive remarks to up the % of the company’s, Knowing what i know and have seen the practices, the reaming reviews of previous employees & current of SCC. These negative remarks i can echo and reaffirm as true. Which had already been said on glassdoor , as it is cross the country broad and wide. Across the board all that is said as cons are all true from those that where brave enough to make a comment and that know of glassdoorwebsite . Where past and present employees can make comments of company’s around the globe about there employers, company’s and other public domain websites. Company’s are measured performance not only on the service that may be given but also may be time sensitive, known as SLA (service level agreement), this is a binding contract or agreement to provide services in parallel with allotted time, so it is time sensitive work. Therefore a binding legal contract between SCC and the customers. This is a common rule in the service industry of IT. It has already been mentioned a number times on reviews on glassdoor, that these agreements or contracts have been broken or breached through illegitimate means of using technology as a tool of wrongdoings, for profit and gain, moving goal post as a quote by others. Time is a constant, but with the aid of a digital world and computers they are able to edit time, data, fact and figures to become a variable like a radio tuner so times, data fit within untrue times and dates. This would be done front line over the phone, remotely or behind the scenes & onsite. Via the groups international call-center based in Romania, where staff there are trained in how to manipulate edit figures & data making a square pegs fit into round ones, cost saving exercise to makeup of the company’s low resources & bridging gaps through these methods.
Cons
1 Don’t have to pay contract penalties fines to the customers for calls falling out of SLA, which goes toward.s profits and gain. Which is substantial over the years. 2. Don’t have to employ correct amount of staff or resources to do jobs, hence limited existing staff would have to be stretch wide and thinly across the country, having to be forced and bullied to do so. Covering long miles to service the customers.Ignoring health & safety concerns. 3. How can so few staff do so much work in a short time, never mind to do the jobs assigned. Considering the amount of customers to service for which are considerable amount and the geography to be covered by the field staff. Getting the most out of the few, using the above. 4. Then on the flip side the staff would be hit with the same statistics stick that they break themselves, when company want you to go further and longer without breaks to do more jobs under compromised and wrong methods. If you complained it would be escalated. 5. Avoids paying huge fines back to the customer for missing SLA,s. Which is linked to the SLA and time and services given to the customers. These saved SLA,s fines are artificially saved via the above practices, and all go towards mass profits. 6. They close calls manually over the phone giving untrue data and times and say that the PDA is not working, when it actually is, but exercises like these are used commonly. I could go on. 7. Ordering parts to calls when not needed to mitigate a job to give more time for a fix, when it cannot be fixed first time. 8. As described staffs ETA would be edited and modified, with or without the staff on the field knowing, which in essence compromises that persons actual where about. Seconds, minutes, hours forgotten and days lost, using electronic editing on their systems. 9. Sometimes managers and call-center behind the scenes would manipulate onsite times even though that staff members still travelling would be over a hour away from site, call-center would put them as onsite on the system, even though not there yet. Therefore to save the SLA time. 10. Staff would be compromised by using these methods in proving their actual whereabouts, the company declare them as missing or unknown whereabouts, as the system can be edited, time and resources can be deleted from jobs. A lot happens behind the scene. Hours become minutes or even lost. Playing god with the clock and employee’s hours. 11. The existing staff would often be called on their days off to help the already low resources which was impossible to maintain the SLA through normal means without the company editing the data and the clock, using technology to backdate adjust to make it look like jobs where done within time or SLA, which was always false. 12. The SLA is time sensitive variable in which is how most companies are measured and service their customers for a financial return. This in affect is manipulated for financial benefits, in running a business within its own means leaner and low costs in employing lower number of employees. 13. The customers range from private to public domains, infrastructure to name a few, backbone to the IT systems to which puts its trust and finances towards as part of trusted contracts. 14. At the end of the day they are customers of SCC & connected practices are a public concern. 15. In using the above practices, they are able to outbid any competitors for their business from these customers, by providing a service for less money through unethical means as described above. This in affect is an unfair and is not level playing field with competitors of the same area. 16. Unfair for people looking for work that is required to do through normal means. Being told that no jobs available, this is untrue as there is more actual physical work available than what is declared to the outside world and how the work is really fulfilled. It may be mentioned that staff would have to travel far and wide to get to destinations (numbers do not add up, figures are fudged). This continues with the company business and treatment of its staff 1. Sending staff to jobs without specified & required training or know how to work on customers equipment, as the kit with warranty would be void if not qualified, but this would be ignored by the managers and call-centers. Therefore to pretend they know what to do when they actually don’t, hence doing more damage than good. 2. The call-centers help-desk in Romania proving a so called assistance to the staff in the field wasn’t able and not fit for purpose in helping as they didn’t know what they were doing from lack of training themselves. 3. Editing & playing god with timelines of the customers and staffs data & figs. 4. Enforcing half hour lunches when it should be an hour, within long days. 5. Being told not to have lunch, ushered along to do more calls with little rest. 6. Using bullying tactics to or-castrate the company’s low resource in ratio with the amount of work and coverage to get there, therefore bridging gaps. Hence fudging the figures, to get end goal under artificial means. 7. Using the groups call-center in Romania to or-castrate its staff via managers and OTL, s (operational team leaders) to manipulate data, facts, figures, and times. 8. complaints would be compromised and spun and with a pressure point in counter of anything said about the above, hr& managements, otl,s biased against what may be said or produced by staff against the company. 9. To the point where a hatchet man may be employed to deal with you if you are non-flexible or not co-operative with the company practices, asking to many questions raised of the company, ex-police or army persons employed to deal with you. Using their past resource against you. 10. If you are non-compliant with what you are told to do, you are deemed a problem and life would be made difficult for you, if you rub shoulders with the right people and do as you are told its all good, but to work a lie on this scale makes not just company of bad practices but you are assisting them with it all, that doesn’t deem well with me. 11. Is this an exclusive, or is it a well-known practice. 12. Being told to do something that is said to be ok, as quote a “unwritten rule” , which in affect is compromising you at a later date, this is a inbuilt pressure point or entrapment practice. Example of this is claiming expenses, There is a file on everyone. 13. you may find yourself in a room compromised witnesses or representation. Hushed up with a counter complaint about you, with goals to scare you. 14. Contract says that you are entitled to a annual appraisal, this never happens in reality. But your always ignored in real time anyway of any issues or concerns you may have. 15. I could go on, just the tip of the ice burg, iam afraid to say. 16. With what has been said, not just by me, but also others saying similar issues, practices and treatment within the company. Without me saying on what this activity is called, i will leave it with readers to make an onion on what that is, but i and others have experienced and seen the same. 17. Managers do not practice what they preach, data protection rules broken.
Advice to Management
If i have to give advice to which is not my job to, but here it goes. The above is well known practices, even though poorly defended as a unknown from top to tail, this is true and is well practiced for company’s and groups advantages as described briefly. We are all human, if cut we all bleed red, treat people like human beings, rights to do business the right way. Listen to staff when things are bad or wrong. Conscious is a terrible thing to live and sleep at night with. Mines clean how’s yours. To treat people badly as described is not cricket, is stating it mildly. Employs the right quantity of staff to do jobs, not short cutting society for actual jobs that are available, this is a concern for a more than one reasons for the public for starters. Therefore providing a business service with low resource than the norm. Don’t treat staff like criminals when they come with concerns about the company. Like a famous quote from a well know super hero, (spider man) with great power comes with great responsibility. There’s no point in giving advice to the management because it’s well re-hurts activity with clauses in place with excuses to cover-up. Its all part of the same mechanical wheel, top to tail. Many fingers in many pies, all bases are covered .

Cons
I wouldn’t be surprised if the good reviews on here are a fix. The 3 years I worked at SCC were the worst 3 years of my life – should have gone with my instinct and left after the first day. Can only speak for the department I worked in but from speaking to others, I think everyone is in the same boat. No value, no pay rises, constant uncontrollable work load which means that no matter how hard you try, you will always provide terrible customer service. Expectation levels are deliberately unrealistic so they never have to reward you. All the good work will get brushed under the carpet and the second one little thing goes wrong they will come down on you like a tonne of bricks. I have friends that work in recruitment and even they say that SCC has a reputation for being such a bad company to work for. Avoid this company like the plague!

Wow. I see from the below reviews that SCC started to use glassdoor.co.uk and all of a sudden every employee is a happy bunny. Getting to the point of this review and as the title says, please don’t even think of joining this business, they will get you to perform at your best for a very little money, so please look at your mortgage rate before signing that contract. When it comes to the management at SCC, well all I can say is that they don’t know how to take care of their own team, they don’t know how to motivate people but they are masters at getting more and more out of you for guess what? no pay rise. You could outperform anyone within the business and you will not get rewarded for it, all you are going to get is a pat on the back saying “good job” and that’s it. I know a lot of people at SCC (not management) who are working for them since 1990’s and early 2000’s, I just want to say to you guys, please find the strength to better yourself and your salary, just join another company who knows how to pay properly for your hard work as I know that 15k can’t get you far in life (office staff salary), you’d be better off working at a assembly line in Jaguar earning 24k a year.

Trust your employees. Give them the flexibility and the ability to do the job they are paid to do. Consider the next generation of Senior management and board members. The only pro when I was there was some of the people. Some genuinely nice and talented colleagues who deserved better than to be stuck in a dead end job, working for a company who only seem to reward sales.
Cons
Where do I start? Looking at all the reviews thus far, they’re all overwhelmingly negative. Well apart from one (got to be a plant) Pay rises = non existent. Poor sods who’ve been working for five or six years on the same wage they started on. Wage Structure = non existent, or whatever they think they can get away with paying you. Can’t think of many companies where you’d get staff working in supposedly more senior positions being paid less than staff who are working under them. Everything is done on the cheap. Training? Forget about it. You don’t need training when you’ve got Google. Management who seem to have been given their position based upon how unsympathetic they can be to their employees. Complete lack of empathy. Employee comes in with a sicknote? They’re obviously shirking work and it’s managements personal mission to make their lives hell. Sycophants get rewarded. Talented staff ignored. Bright side is when staff eventually do leave, they can pretty much guarantee the grass will be greener. Hiring contractors on minimum wage to replace experienced staff and then wondering what happened when things inevitably go wrong. I don’t think the world limbo dancing champion could get any lower than the staff morale in SCC Thinking of working there? Don’t. To paraphrase Morgan Freeman from the Shawshank Redemption “There’s not a day goes by that I don’t feel regret. Not because I’m in here, or because you think I should. I look back on the way I was then: a young, stupid kid who wanted a job in IT.He didn’t care if it was poorly paid. He naively believed if he worked hard, he would be noticed and rewarded. I want to talk to him. I want to try to talk some sense to him, tell him the way things are. But I can’t. That kid’s long gone and this old man who’s wasted 10 years of his life working in a dead end job for the same wage he started on is left. I gotta live with that”
Advice to Management
Your staff are the company. And no, that’s not just the sales staff who’ve sold ‘x’ amount of machines.Treat them with respect, pay a fair wage. Here’s a radical idea, if the company is doing well (they always seem to be doing so on the intranet page) reward everybody. It’s only fair.

Computacenter has been much MUCH better, they are more approachable, professional and more organised with better and smoother ideas. Honest managers willing to work for the good of everyone. SCC managers would rather a call loses SLA as long as they pee’d you off they are happy. If your looking to join them…you have been warned.

Pros
For those that don’t sink, it is a place where you can develop a good CV and strong skills. Training and technical skills are highly valued.
Cons
Poor quality working environment.Shabby décor and dirty toilets. Poor facilities in general and an approach of like it or leave. New recruits are taken with 1 week notice period and benefits are not available within the first six months on the basis that many leave during that time. Car, expenses, hotel and other policies are stacked heavily in the companies favour, providing a poor experience to the employee. Pay rises are rare with many people leaving and returning in order to increase salary. Employees feel undervalued. There is a fear driven culture and overwhelming office-politics.
Advice to Management
Address the fear culture, take steps to make employees feel valued.

Pros
Very few. I was employed on a managed service contract so fortunately didn’t have to visit the Birmingham HQ.
Cons
No promotion, no career progression, no pay rises, no recognition of your worth as an employee, no prospects, no job security, poor management. I was there for 8 years and spent most of that time looking for another job, but working for SCC and not having any training at all goes against you. Despite learning in my own time and carrying out tasks of somebody well above my pay grade was never recognised. An interim or probationary role can last for 5 years with SCC. Pay rises were always at least 1 percent below inflation and was frozen for the last 3 years with the company (despite the company making record profits during those 3 years). The owner actually bought Coventry airport and a chain of hotels during this time and the family employees always received great dividends. I was actually told by my immediate manager once that I was lucky to have a job. That Victorian attitude was permeated throughout the company.
Advice to Management
If you value and reward your staff you will get a lot more from them. Running a company purely for your own gains is all well and good but doesn’t make staff work harder.

Cons
Tyrannical Leadership team that has no strategy or direction, daily fire fighting in an organisation this size is an appalling waste of resources and talent. Some great committed staff, mixed with some completely demoralised long servers. A blame culture that is so endemic it isn’t noticeable when you work there. A really undignified way to have to go to work
Advice to Management
Your people are your best asset, they are not a drain, a liability or an over head. they have ideas, talent, aspirations, humour and loyalty. If you pay them poorly, take their security and view them with mistrust – How will the organisation that YOU manage thrive or survive?

I was given a SCC branded pen when i joined the company many years ago, but when the ink ran out they did not replace it for another pen. I had to use the customers pens in the bookies.
Cons
Management tell you to your face that this company is not a good company to work for, they tell you that your better off looking for another job with better pay because there is no pay rises with this company, despite a huge growth and profits in the last 4 years. My manager told me we all need to join a union to force a pay rise out of them as thats the only possible way. The young and ambitious engineers do not last long, 2 years maximum or mainly a lot less. There is a lot of OAP engineers who are using SCC as a retirement home…. still on there 19k when they started 16 years ago. Yes 19k 54 years old and working on servers….ouch. A huge kick in the goolies considering the qualification they have done not to mention college, university and everything else to become ‘A PROFESSIONAL COMPUTER ENGINEER’. SCC have it written in a contract with a customer that they have to have ‘technical couriers’ who drive around a van with tv’s and other parts to hand to engineers and help with 2 or 3 man jobs. SCC employes these technical couriers but on there first day or within 2 weeks they are asked to complete technical engineer calls on there own. Eventually they will do engineering calls on thereowneveryday and promised they will become engineers. They are on 14k. SCC win the contracts and then look for the cheapest options to make maximum profit for themselves, at the same time destroying customers sites and doing an incredibly poor job. Before i left SCC we was told if we cannot complete jobs that we need to call our team leader who is not technical, so that he can advise on how we can fix the problem. On one occasion i was told to shove a piece of paper in a network port to hold the cable in place and close the call (the network port was damaged). Complete monkey comedy. On another occasion i was told to buy a switch from pcworld to complete a job within SLA which the switch would of cost over £100 i promptly refused. Another time i was told to buy a plug and fuse from B&Q to fix a faulty plug on a CRT tv (yes we did not do I.T jobs mostly AV), we was not trained to do electrician jobs. Another time we was given hacksaws to cut padlocks off of TV’s that are holding them onto the brackets, the hacksaw was the cheapest they could find and couldnt cut into the padlock. We was not given protective gloves or eye protection or training. There has been no training to protect us from the electrician, lock smiths, TV specialist jobs that we was doing. Then they want to give us TV bracket installation training. I joined the company as a IT field support engineer. I was doing everything other than computer related calls, i am sure the next contract they win would of been window cleaning job or litter picking job or maybe a leaf blower in a travelodge car park. Complete and utter shambles of management who are fighting to save their job, some come into work early and leave late with no extra pay just to show they are committed. They expect engineers to complete work in there own time and start work early without extra pay too. SCC engineers and other staff need to stand your ground, know what your rights are and show your not a push over. Do not allow them to fool you into living your life on the edge scared you may get an illegal counselling form or disciplinary for breathing. Do not allow them to use the line ‘theres no other jobs out there’ or ‘your lucky you have a job’. SCC engineers are better than this. SCC should change their name to STHMJOATOAWOSS = SPECIALIST TV HANDYMAN MUG JACK OF ALL TRADE ON A WAGE OF A SHELF STACKER (dot com)

With out repeating the 24 reviews I share and echo everything has been said this company is the worst example of how to run a business. Just to remind people HR get paid by SCC, so don’t expect them to be nice to you unless you are willing to pay them more. I was employed and promised I would take care of a specific area, however I found myself from the beginning going to birmingham and wales to do calls. The managers are a bunch of morons havnt got a single clue what rhey are doing. They fool you into thinking you will cover a certain area yet always dragged a million miles away then they complain when sla’s are running out and ask you to let the call centre in romania close the call… no doubt for their own gain. Cons
Management turnover, I worked for SCC for less then a year and had four managers Working environment, office conditions are poor very out dated, far behind similar IT services companies such as Kelway and Computacenter Directors have out dated management style, I like a challenge however the politics within SCC are crazy. HR is a joke. it like watching an 80’s sitcom not sure who runs the company as it seems to be ran from HR business is ran like a small corner shop rather then listening to the experts they employ they force you to do it the SCC way, which some reading this will think “well they are massive so they must be doing something good” and that is true they have a great consultancy team and tin shifting business until recently. However I work in Managed Services, this is completely different to tin shifting. the people are your products and you should treat them with the same care and attention as the tin you use to shift.
Advice to Management
time to remove the goffers at the top served the company well in the past but its time for change at the top you have some great people work with them you have such great potential and client base but unless the culture changes you’ll lose the IT services business.

Good career progression if you are willing to work extremely hard (and more). Basically give up your life and do the favours, OT and try and help the company as best you can. Including working as a 24hour Eng you will get a couple of OK creditation for your CV, however the progression is only good if you plan to move on. You simply will not get paid any,ore despite what qualifications and progression made. So as a pro the progression is good for you so youcan move on to bigger and better things. I moved on and I now earn 7000k more than I was on at scc.
Cons
1. Management very inexperienced, promoted from a low level probably on the same pay. Not professional, rather attack engineers with such petty things rather than focus on completing calls and helping/supporting engineers. It is very funny to watch sometimes as all the lower end managers cannot speak for the self they have to get a answer to a question from senior management over the most small silly things. 2. HR not helpful nor neutral anymore, very 1 sided. 3. Company went from a genuine IT company into a TV repair and AV company overnight with no experience in this industry and no experienced engineers. 4. Scclook for desperate guys desperately looking for a job with no experience. Are employed as a store man or in a completely different department then they find themselves doing engineering jobs and stay on there 16k per year. 5. High turnover of engineers with the older ones staying for a long time and in some cases had 2 pay rises in 15 years. 55 year olds on 20k….etc. 6. Finally I echo a previous response I have read about manually closing calls. Poor over worked and under paid Romanian call centre are forced by senior management to either not assign a call to engineers so they can manually edit and backdate the completed time to obviously financially gain from missed sla`s. Or get the call centre to ask the engineer to not put a time on site so they can manually close it again to backdate the times. I hated doing it, but i did so due to intimidation hassle and general hassle from management.

Cons

Working conditions appalling place does not have cleaners. Toilets have been abysmal. Canteen facilities… there are none. Charging you for water from the vending machine…lol Every time you think It can’t get any worse a jumped up little manager with no managerial skills, will come up with a way to make your life more miserable in this totalitarian management style that went out in the 50’s. 1. You have a job 2. …can’t think at anything else
Cons
1. Poor salaries 2. Very poor pay rises 3. Bad environment.Crowded and noisy hall. Background noise is awful especially since work is done mainly on the phone. Using the cheapest headphones available, because they make IT work. The nicest part is that SCC hird a team of handymen to repair the air con system. It took them many months, when I say many I do not mean 2 or 3 and in those months the background noise had an extra drilling machines bonus.Day by day. The kitchen is still closed for repairs. It’s only been half a year. 4. The promotions have nothing to do with skills or performance. They are based on nepotism and bootlocking. If you are not relative or spouse to who matters OR a glorious bootlicker there will be no career advancement. This leads to a big bunch of team leaders, supervisors and managers who have their positions without true merits and, what a coincidence, are incompetent, having no idea about the activity they should coordonate. They can be easily recognized: long cofee breaks and in the time between breaks they are walking in the hall, either laughing hard or frowning. Hard working devoted employees have started to leave because it is frustrating to see how incompetent fellas advance and the ones who shod advance receive nothing more than STANDARD evaluation with no perspective. Conclusion: no respect for people, considered just resources.
Advice to Management
Start respecting people. Treat them fair, analyse the promotions system because you know that there are too many fellas who have no idea what they are doing but they have big titles and huge salaries. Evaluate staff seriously.

If you ever get called to cole valley 2 in Birmingham or any other site in birmingham, you can rest assured that the parking facilities are spot on with ample amount of spaces. I have 7 years experience and its always been a hassle free to park in Birmingham HQ or any other site. This is the only positive i can think of.
Cons
DO NOT DO OVERTIME for SCC, only do so at YOUR OWN RISK. Let me explain (this is a company wide issue not a one off). SCC do not pay overtime for traveling to and from the job! So 1hour drive there 30 mins on the job and 1 hour drive back SCC will ONLY pay 30 mins not 2 hours 30 mins!. SCC get desperate sometimes as nobody wants to entertain overtime for pennies. When SCC management get desperate they pick their target and they play the ‘its part of your contract’ line or ‘you’re lucky to have a job’ line. When the employee refuses still the manager will agree verbally that you can claim double hours ie..if you were 2 hours you can claim 4 hours. BE WARNED you are not actually gaining anything as you’re claiming for your traveling time anyway which SHOULD be paid. But allow me to continue, if you claim 4 hours for example and you were working for 2 hours, unless you’re a brown noser and can guarantee you will brown nose for the rest of your employment, then SCC will pull you up on overtime should you raise a issue, concern or problem later on. SCC have pulled this trick on previous and current staff numerous times. Because the agreement was verbal there is no record of the agreement occurring. Therefore you the victim will be quickly turned into the criminal by SCC. Yes SCC will deflect the situation to brand you a criminal. So i advise all to NOT entertain overtime for scc for a verbally agreed hours. If you have to and want to fine, make sure the managers email this agreement to your PERSONAL email account. NOT your company email account. SCC management including HR have a policy of ‘we prefer phone calls but you cannot record the phone call’ policy. Its evident to see why they prefer this method of contact. Also this is not a family run business, when a manager is asked if they have met or even seen the owner of the company (rigby) they said no, despite being here for a few years!. There’s no family implementation in the company at all or any aspect in the company that proves this. When you leave cole valley 2 you are searched by a security guard with a magnet detector! In cole valley 2 all it houses is CRT television, old scanners, old printers and nothing small enough or worthwhile to make you even think to steal it. Unless you treat your family like this then this is NOT a family business. No pay rises or acknowledgement of sucess.

“Disappointed of the way management runs things ”
Current Employee – Anonymous Employee
Pros
You have the opportunity to get in contact with the latest technologies on the market. If you want/ desire, you can learn almost anyting in the service desk/ support field, from administration to implementation, from software to hardware.
Cons
The internal trainings are poor and they are based on the motto: learn as you go. Sometimes you find out about new projects in the day they go live. Poor documentation and escalation lines.Crowded room with poor AC.
Advice to Management
Please look outside your office to see what is going on in the company. E-mails are not enough!

“Battle Field ”
Current Employee – Disributed Field Engineer in Crayford, England
I have been working at SCC full-time (more than 3 years)
Pros
Very simple No Pros, if SCC can make you pay to go to work they would. One the reviews describes a new starter -how can this person be able to confirm the negative reviews in such a short period of time it is clear to me and all the readers it is a fake review.
Cons
I do not want to repeat what all the negative reviews because I 1000% agree with them all.
All the positive reviews are from 2 people sitting in their air conditioned office. SCC is not a stranger to lies and deceit I am not really surprised when one of the reviews states (I don’t get the negative reviews),

I will treat everyone with intelligence and respect unlike SCC will deliberately insult your intelligence.

SCC will not stop at anything to pretend it is a good company in reality it is the worst company to work for.

The theme is very clear to any reasonable person.

You be the judge
Advice
Stop hiding your heads in the sand. The Majority can not be all liars.

“Please don’t even think about joining SCC!!!! ”
Former Employee – Sales in Birmingham, England
I worked at SCC
Pros
None. I’m sorry but that is the truth!
Cons
Advice
Please, please start treating your employees like people not like slaves…

“WORST BIGGEST PRIVATELY RUN IT COMPANY IN EUROPE
YOU WILL WORK WITH RODENTS ”
Current Employee – Anonymous Employee
I have been working at SCC full-time
Pros
If you are willing to con/lie to customers do manual closure and ask for no pay rise work 24/7 without getting paid any overtime – if you are one of the lucky ones then you might get paid flat rate 3 month later. You must have no life willing to be a cleaner courier and work with rodents you will be promoted to OTL and be used like a disposable toilet tissue. OTLs have no say in anything if you are nice OTL you get kicked out very quickly
Cons
No training no pay rise treated like dirt no respect.
OTLs (operation team leaders) are used to do the dirty work beat these poor engineers oops couriers cleaners and give false promises – what normally happens they pick up anybody with no qualification or experience and use them for 2 years people then get fed-up and leave SCC has one of the highest staff turnovers in the UK, is this because of the high standards of slavery yes
Advice
You think people are stupid to believe the five star reviews are true, everyone who worked for this nasty company knows how ruthless this management and the owners are. i can only describe them as criminals they take advantage of vulnerable people provide the worst customer service they only win contracts because they are cheap but when customers realise how bad the service is they leave for example Thomas cook – Network rail and many more when a big company wants to terminate a contract like British Airways SCC run the contract on loss to keep them so they can market SCC if they are good enough for British airs they good enough for other companies sadly a lots of companies have been stung

Pros
Not many, if you fit in within management you will go far.
Cons

Advice
Need to start caring after staff. Get rid of the bully style management and blame culture which is well known within the organisation.

Dead end job with bullying management. ”
Current Employee – Field Service Engineer in Birmingham, England
I have been working at SCC full-time (more than 10 years)
Pros
Expenses meagre but at least paid
Cons
Job forever changing, no longer IT related though. Our way or highway is the attitude of managers. Last pay review over six years ago. Bullying rampant, make sure you join a union even though the managers claim you are not allowed to! Be prepared to have every move recorded by tracker, expect expenses to be matched to tracker records.
Advice
Delegate some authority. You claim that family values come first. Only if your family name is Rigby though.

“”Profit above people ! ” – the mantra of a cynical leadership ”
Former Employee – Anonymous Employee in Birmingham, England
I worked at SCC as a contractor (less than an year)
Pros
The technical (IT) staff are fun to work with and very good at their jobs.
Cons
SCC do not value people..that is self evident with their 50% + annual churn rate (yes, believe it!). The working conditions are positively victorian (old, broken loos, smelly stale air, no light, ); all office furniture is old and broken, it is cramped and the IT equipment is a total joke. They do things on the cheap here; they pay the going rate, but the rest is just a short cut to profit and its the employees who suffer. I have heard numerous complaints about the way people are messed about by HR and management, its a shambles as they cannot retain staff. This company deserves to go to the wall. No flexibility at work here either, so if you have young kids, watch out. There’s no WFH and they will squeeze overtime out of you and then you will struggle to get paid for it.
Advice
What can I say; you have it so badly wrong. Get an independent assessment of the working conditions for staff and when they give it the title ‘3rd world sweatshop’ then maybe its time to take note.

“I see they’ve forced people to write reviews as promised!!! DO NOT BELIEVE THEM!!!!!!!!! ”
Former Employee – Anonymous Employee
I worked at SCC
Pros
Honestly, absolutely non whatsoever, you get paid which of course is the bare minimum you might expect for actually doing your job but that really is it.
Cons
Too many to actually list… I’ll name a few key ones:

First and foremost completely corrupt, illegal and without any scruples whatsoever. Lets start with the application form they ask you to complete… number of children? Age of children? Number of days off sick? How do they a. get away with this and b. do their dozy HR Department not change it before they get a lawsuit!! The very reason they have that form is the very reason it is illegal – because they actively reject anybody over a certain age, with any type of illness etc. The culture is poisonous, full of fear and run in a autocratic, Hitler type way. Strange, strange people.
Advice to ManagementAdvice
Get rid of all of upper management who have been there since the company started trading and start again. New management team, up to date policies, new culture and a progressive environment. The people you have running the show are outdated and wouldn’t get a job anywhere else – they are quite frankly ridiculous. Train, invest and respect your employees then maybe you wouldn’t have recruitment costs through the roof and laughable staff retention rates.

“OK as temp. Avoid for full time. ”
Current Contractor – Field Service Engineer in Luton, East of England, England
I have been working at SCC as a contractor (less than a year)
Pros
Been working for SCC for a few months now as a contractor in a field support role. The good point is when it goes quiet I can do what I like. Seems contractors definitely get away with a lot more than full timers.
Cons
Got to say full time employees have put me off this company but I have been with full time employees when they have been told to do something crazy by a manager. Will not go into details incase it exposes anyone and comes and bites me. Not the greatest company but a OK stepping stone for a temp.
Advice to ManagementAdvice
Definitely treat your full time staff better. So many stories Bout no pay rises ever. No recognition. No support. Think your doing things wrong to be honest.

Management killing both staff and business potential ”
Current Employee – Manager in Birmingham, England
I have been working at SCC full-time (more than a year)
Pros
Sales teams bring in a lot of new business. The company portfolio is growing rapidly.
People are generally friendly and have strong bonds, but that bond stops when management are involved.
Cons
Although i’ve mentioned the sales team bring in alot of business, which is generally good news for the company. However please note, the sales team are driven by financial bonuses and from what I seen they will sell a customer a bunch of lies just to get the business in. For example, I’ve had awkward conversations with customers who have been with the company maybe 2-3 years into a contract where we sold them network resilience that was never setup!!!! Of course the customer has the right to be annoyed. As soon as they sign on the dotted line they move on to next victim. I’ve actually also spoke to customers who have told me the only reason they used SCC is because we the cheapest!
The biggest issue I had with SCC is the nasty “blame culture” and the “vindictive styles of management” from the directors within DCS. I heard these directors first hand plotting against their own staff and the language they use describe people was disgraceful. When I joined I questioned some of these methods and was strongly advised by other staff not to pursue these issues as I would be deemed a trouble maker and managed out of the company as I seen with many colleagues.
SCC to the outside world may seem professional, but inside… WOW it’s a whole different story. I’ve seen Service Desk Management literally screaming at analyst and directors shout at other senior managers in an open plan office. First time I seen that I said to a colleague that’s highly unprofessional and would not be allowed to happen in most other companies, but again I was advised this is “normal” part of SCC culture. SCC constantly fail on their own processes, when they do, we are asked by senior management how we can redirect the blame or come up with a plausible lie to feed the customer to prevent any financial penalties. Lying to customers is quite normal again within SCC, something I got extremely annoyed with as time went on.
SCC is a company with plenty of opportunity but these roles are NOT AWARDED to those on merit, it’s awarded to staff based on “who liked the most”. Good staff like me will get bigger and better opportunities elsewhere…. The ones you left with, either no drive to go elsewhere, getting an easy ride, or staff no other company would even consider.
My advice to people is to do as much research on the company prior to joining, maybe chat to former or current staff. If you’re an individual with ideas, initiative and can see how existing processes could be improved, SCC IS NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU.
Advice to ManagementAdvice
Mr Rigby, you seriously need to get a consultancy company to come in speak to staff and understand why most people in Operations centre are unhappy. Any business needs to understand, as ITIL says, “people are your biggest assets”. The blame culture and the aggressive management style needs to addressed at director and senior management level. You keep losing too many good staff because of this.
Start thinking of ways to keep your staff rather than to kick swiftly and hard for any mistakes they make. Understand your staffs are human not automated robots and most do have a life outside SCC. Don’t expect your staff to devote their weekends and evening when you pay well below market rates, every now and again is fine, but weekly different story.
Review your current management teams. Look at their style, look at how many lower level staff are leaving in comparison the higher management. Doesn’t take genius why things are still broken.
Your company reputation is being affected by all of this, and I ashamed I have SCC on my CV or say I’ve worked there, your bad reputation is notorious across the IT industry.

Former Employee – Computer Engineer in London, England

Pros
Got my under paid salary at the end of each month which paid the bills.
Cons
Glad to of got out this dead wood company. I echo exactly what others have mentioned, constant blame culture…not willing to listen to great ideas from some talented employees. Management’s way or no way, when management ideas fail they blame you for it. Constantly sent to all sorts of jobs without any training. 19 year old sent to server calls when 8 months ago they was a carpenter and didn’t know how to use a pc let alone repair servers. Computacenter has been much MUCH better, they are more approachable, professional and more organised with better and smoother ideas. Honest managers willing to work for the good of everyone. SCC managers would rather a call loses SLA as long as they pee’d you off they are happy. If your looking to join them…you have been warned.

“Please speak to someone before you join ”
Former Employee – Change Manager in Birmingham, England
I worked at SCC
Pros
There isn’t any. Really isn’t. Staff at non management level really good. You will build extremely strong bonds with them. It’s a bit like survival of fittest and you need a few team mates to get you through each day
Cons
Staff turnaround is about 70-80% if that don’t get your alarm bells ringing. I’m not sure what will.
If you work within DCS then you will realise how unethical the company is. Senior management with conflict of intrest, for example, two key areas of business has the same director. I’ll let you all read between lines there.
The treatment of staff is the worst I seen anywhere by far. They preach company policy when suits them, then bully, victimise staff to manage them out of company. The ones I seen could easily have a case against company but because they been bullied into fearing the company they make no noise and leave. There really isn’t nothing good to say unless you have a decent line manager like me who taught me a hell of a lot things. But there are probally less than 1% of people like this within the company. So you maybe better off doing the lottery. The service desk are managed by all women, and it really is diva style management.
Seriously advise people who may of got the fake promises from HR, do not touch company. Really don’t. Those who have no choice, join, do the bare minimum. Going above and beyond remit and performing gets you no further than doing bare min.
Please consider speaking to an ex employee before joining, plenty of them will offer you the right advise prior to joining, just search for them on LinkedIn.
Advice
Get rid of the current senior management ruining good staffs life’s for personally bonuses. Value your staff, treat them as humans and not slaves.
and understand if you give your staff poor tools, don’t expect excellent results. Look at the turn over of staff and senior management. Senior management hasn’t changed but staff have and things still don’t work. Root cause of issues is the management not the the staff

Current Employee – Engineer in Nottingham, England (UK)
I have been working at SCC full-time for more than a year
Pros
Cannot think of anything good or positive.
Cons
When i joined SCC i thought i joined the biggest IT company in europe. I thought everything looked professional and during the whole interview process it all seemed legit, professional and super friendly managers. Everything was fantastic throughout my probation period, as soon as my probation period had been completed (6 months) it all changed for the worst.

It seems as an employee who just got a new job your aim is to hold on to this job through your probation period, but it seems SCC are the ones holding on to you! This may sound like a good thing but it is not. SCC purposely hold on to you, give you false hopes, false promises and lie because it becomes clear you are not doing just 1 role. you are doing many roles on the cheap:

Computer engineer (5%)
AV TV fitter (50%)
Locksmith (5%)
Rat exterminator (5%)
Carpenter (5%)
Handyman (5%)
Collection and drop off courier (20%)
Cleaner (5%)

Your wage stays the same, when speaking to a few old 55 to 60 year old engineers they have been on 18k to 20k since they started. I have been with SCC for 2 years and i have seen so many other engineers come and go. SCC fail to keep hold of engineers after the probation period. Many engineers have taken SCC to court and won. Team leaders have taken them to court and won. Current employees including team leaders are going through court proceedings against SCC. This is crazy and shows exactly how SCC treat you if a manager is taking them to court!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Without a question of a doubt, the worst experience of my life.

Current Employee – Distribution Field Engineer in Ashford, Kent, South East England, England (UK)

Pros
If I Could give minus million stars I would. No pros what so ever. This management is ruthless and don’t care about welfare of engineers. If you don’t like it they are always pointing at the door.
Cons
SCC uses modern day slavery, they employee people who don’t have any experience pay them very low wages and take advantage of their inexperience and never give them any pay rise they just get rid of them and get new one and keep doing the same again and again. SCC management get their store men to do engineers jobs, giving them false promises that they will make them engineers whilst they are on minimum wage to do technical jobs which they are not trained for or qualified to do SCC willing to send anyone to any job, on many occasions I was sent to customers site without training, instruction or support, they cheat customers by manually adjusting SLAs and pressure engineers into lying to customers and order parts which they are not needed, no pay rises no bonuses no training, only bullying and intimidation, management are only interested in their own gains at the expense of engineers welfare and careers, when I started with SCC my skills were excellent and I thought I will be adding more skills, but I discovered my skills went downhill I had to buy my own materials to keep up to date with technology and educate myself. The endless false promises. low pay flat rate overtime if any, company makes over 100% profit, poor internal training no support no rewards no praises stick stickstick only. Worst HR department they are only interested in covering up management even with factual evidence provided. Management give no sympathy, even in family death they would not give an engineer time off to attend his mother in law funeral reason she is not immediate family. They want me to work for free before my contracted hours and after I would if I was trained and rewarded, Safety locator (PDA Tracker) is used to punish us, it is not used for safety as HR mentioned, not to mention this illegal counselling forms which they keep giving us if we sneeze, driving long distances without breaks if you stop for a break then the safety locator kicks in and another counselling form is issued to me. I have been looking for a new job for a while, when I mention I work for SCC the agencies laugh at me and say SCC is the worst company they have come across they have high turnover of staff, I feel trapped in SCC, at the beginning of my employment I worked very hard thinking I will be getting training and rewards I was sucked into false promises before I knew it 2- 3years has gone past, I am educating myself so I can move to another better company, I was employed as IT engineer I suddenly found myself going round picking up dirty CRT TVs and working in companies where you will find dead rats and rat droppings on AV equipment and doing jobs which has nothing to do with IT many engineers share what I am going through but the problem they are all worried about their jobs they are also trapped. SCC has a simple business model which is to pay staff very little and gets rich and richer. They treat everyone with contempt, if I complained they always say you are the only one complaining when I know for a fact everyone has exactly the same problems.
Advice to ManagementAdvice
You have lost excellent engineers because of your mismanagement, most of you are ex-engineers not even qualified to be managers, be ashamed of yourselves and have respect for engineers. “RUN forest RUN ”
Current Employee – Third Line Support in Manchester, England (UK)
I have been working at SCC full-time for more than 5 years
Pros
This may not be a pro that appeals to all, but if your willing to seriously lick the rear of senior management. Work over time unpaid, catch other employees out(snitch), defraud customers for ‘stats and figures gains’, preferably come from a military position OR at least willing to work without pay rise (ever). Then you could potentially be in line to become a part of management or even promoted. You however must be corrupted and willing to be sent on a PJ (no names mentioned) crash course in how to become a corrupted manager and deceive as many people as possible.
Cons
SCC managers are sent on crash course’s on ‘how to become a perfect manager’. These crash courses train managers on how to basically become corrupted (if they are not already). Managers find EVERY POSSIBLE WAY to deceive customers and what would class as FRAUD at the highest level outside of a working environment.

NO employee is happy only the 1% that have been promised amazing things if they do everything they tell them to do (a bit like the dodgy pyramid schemes that ask you for a sign up fee). These employees are as dummy as anything, they fall for it and end up in the position they were still at 5 years ago BUT entertaining many more tasks than their job role originally laid out in their contract.

What i am trying to say is, SCC MANAGEMENT CANNOT BE TRUSTED. ABSOLUTELY AVOID THIS COMPANY AS IF THEY ARE RATS CHASING YOU DOWN A ALLY WAY READY TO KICK OFF THE PLAGUE. YES POKE THE RAT WITH A BARGE POLE UNTIL IT WHIMPERS AWAY. RUN LIKE FOREST GUMP UNTIL YOUR LEGS FALL OFF. DO WHATEVER YOU CAN TO GET AWAY FROM THIS CRIMINAL GANG CULTURE AND DO NOT TURN BACK. DO NOT PASS GO. GO TO JAIL IF YOU MUST ANYTHING RATHER THAN BEING CAUGHT UP IN THIS CRIMINAL GANGLAND BLAME FINGER POINTING CULTURE.

Remember potential SCC employees, gangs are NOT a good thing and certainly ILLEGAL when entertaining illegal activity such what SPECIALIST COMPUTER CENTRES continue to do on a daily basis.
Advice to ManagementAdvice
I cannot advise this current SCC management. Because they do not take ideas on lightly. If you suggest a great idea you will be belittled and bullied as far into the sewers (where they live) as possible. They will only accept their own ideas and when they fail they will blame you. HAHAHA welcome to the merry go round of SCC.

Current Employee – Senior Engineer in Leeds, England
I have been working at SCC full-time (more than 8 years)
Pros
I will come back to this when i think of something.
Cons
Worked at SCC for almost 10 years, have to admit i was sucked into everyday life and avoided taking risks by looking for another job. However as things became incredibly poor at SCC i decided to look around. While i was at SCC i was on £19,500 as an experienced technical field support engineer. I did not have a single pay rise in 15 years, its quite unbelievable considering i have in some cases helped the company in so many ways. I quickly figured out helping them out beyond your normal every day duties does not pay off with SCC. In fact they start to demand it from you and then it becomes moulded into your duties. Anyway i took the plunge and left SCC in early 2013, i joined a company which was fantastic for a £10,500 pay rise yes thats right 30k salary. I have since moved on again to a 38k salary which also includes a performance bonus with another company where i am now and very happy. The reason i am writing this review is because a colleague i met at my present employment mentioned he used to work for SCC also and it was his worst experience of his life, he mentioned glassdoor, so i just had to help others out with this review.

I am ashamed to put SCC on my CV, anyone joining them or thinking to join them then think again. You will not be doing just IT related calls but all random calls that you are not trained for and not confident in doing.

Many agencies told me they do not offer jobs on behalf of SCC as they are a liability, which sums the management up.

The company have got rid of all the excellent work horses and now only the dead drift wood is left.

I was made a senior engineer 4 years ago by SCC, of course the title came with zero pay rise and more responsibility.

Some engineers/staff got a buzz off of becoming a senior engineer but little do they know thats how scc operate. Making the monkey follow the banana and of course the monkey will never catch the banana.

I feel very sorry for some old friends/colleagues who are still at SCC, too scared to take the risk and look for another job. So take a lot of crap from management who may i add in some cases were promoted from engineer rolls which may i also add were not even capable engineers anyway in some cases 22 year olds who got into the company via being in stores shelf stacking.

i also felt sorry for the customers who some were great customers, little did they or do they know untrained, unprofessional engineers attend their calls/site undertaking risky jobs they are not capable of doing. Some real mess ups i had seen in my time but scc management always wiggle themselves out of it making up excuses to the customers.

I have seen EVERYTHING in m 10 years of being employed by SCC, i will tell the tales to my grandchildren a few years down the line.

Remember working for SCC means you are a monkey chasing the banana that you will never catch, because the banana does not exist. Just plenty of dodgeyslippering banana skins.
Advice
Stop controlling your staff to the point where they cannot undertake their duties properly. Allow them to get on with their job and allow them to finish the job in peace. Hand out yearly pay rises to reflect the hard work they do for you. Not silly titles such as senior engineers or super engineers and all the other titles you make up to keep the engineers thinking WOW great im getting somewhere. Your tactics did not work with me, good luck to you all you will need it.

Soulless incompetent company to work for with the face of SCC pushing all the right buttons and saying all the clever words to the outside world with inaccurate stats and clear stats manipulation to make SCC look like something they CLEARLY aren’t. MICROMANAGEMENT at the highest level possible, they’ll watch you every second of the day. If you finish your jobs 10 minutes before your shift expect to undertake some unrelated tasks such as sitting in a office till your shift ends or doing a stock take thats not officially recorded (so pointless). Truly unethical company with horrid management tactics. They push staff above and beyond the max and still expect more, engineers and staff overworked and no time for a recharge. Holidays are an absolute NIGHTMARE to take, they’ll ignore your requests at all times. The day before you want to go on holiday they’ll tell you sorry they couldn’t find cover despite notifying them 10 months in advance. Field Support Engineer (Current Employee)

I have been working at SCC full-time for more than 5 years
Pros – Some very good fellow engineers that help each other out. In pre 2010 they had excellent professional management, however they was all booted out and replaced by cowboys.
Cons – I am sad and fear for my health working for SCC, many previous engineers have been signed off sick or intimidated bullied and pressured into quitting their job or being made redundant. The current management are completely against fellow employees and treat us all like we are picking rice from a field in china, everybody is a liar except them (cough). Totally focusing on SLA’s to a point where the rules and goal posts are moved to suit their stats and figures ie to gain financially from their loyal customers, engineers forced to lie to meet SLA’s. From 3 years ago the company has turned into a military camp in respect that every movement you make is monitored, your tracked in a vehicle and in your home on the PDA systems. Being tracked is not a bad thing but the company use it COMPLETELY to try and catch you out which always fails in their attempt. Last pay rise? over 5 years ago despite the company using the economic downturn as a totally upturn for them, which include 42% increase in turnover in 2011, 56% turnover increase on top of that in 2012, 120% turnover increase in 2012 yet they refuse to hand any pay rise’s to all the hard working dedicated engineers. Future progression is zero unless you like to lie and editing figures either on PDA handhelds or by calling the call centre who are trained to edit times to fool customers, if you like to work overtime without pay an if you like to generally do a bit of work in your own time without pay then you may..MAY be noticed but you will still not get anywhere. Technical support is in Romania although better today they were very poor for years due to lack of training, although admittedly they are hard working and willing employees, i am pretty sure though they are still treated as bad as field support engineers. They want us to work day and night without pay or even a simple thank you, they reduced overtime so that 3 hours in the day you do not get paid at all, i am disgusted. Finally If you are unlucky enough to head to the HQ in Birmingham if you want a drink you must pay 5p for a cup. SO many things to list but not enough room on here to put it all, basically i would not recommend this employer to anyone i like or dont like for that matter. I will not waste my internet bandwidth to write anymore about this disgusting and ruthless company. I strongly believe in what goes around comes around.
Advice to Senior Management – Its a one way street with this management, so i could give some good advice but they will not listen to it. They think they are right even when they are proven wrong and they do not back down from anything it is as if they are robots. Please change your attitude and treat people with dignity and respect not just like a professional but also like a human being!!!!!
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

Pros
Learn how not to do things the right way. Small number of genuine nice people.
Cons
Theres quite a lot of negative reviews on here and I’m afraid my opinion is no different. On boarding process needs to be looked at, I spent my first two weeks watching someone show me how not to do my job. When finally my equipment arrived, it was of a very poor warn standard.
The morale within operation centre is probally at its all time low, most of the better staff with initiatives are currently seeking exit plans or already left! The senior management within this area use Unprofessional dictatorship styles to mange their staff. The staff turnaround rate for the operation center must be quite high. Anyone seen not to agree with new initiative or processes, who have valid reasons to disagree are seen as trouble makers. Time and time again, I’ve seen employees been treated unfairly, unreasonable expectations set, and eventually manged out the company unjustified. Scare monger tactics from management which is backed by HR allows SCC to do this.
Opportunity also is hard to come by, you can be a top performer, glowing references off your customers, achieve all your KPI’s and objectives but it seems SCC don’t reward staff on merit. If you look at the current senior management, quite a few of them have been awarded senior roles without any kind of interview process.
The building is in a very poor condition and also the area located in Birmingham has a extremely high crime rate. In my time there was a female colleague who was sexually assaulted on her way back to her car (some of the car park is not on private land). Also a car jackingaccross the road at head quaters.
And finally I must mention the inadequate head counts in each department and quality of staff left is affecting their ability to meet contractual agreements and obligations. Sla stats can be modified and alot of the time was to avoid financial penalties meaning a lot of the reporting the customer and I received was inaccurate.Show Less
Advice to Management
Please start conducting exit interviews. Understand why all the better staff are leaving. Reward on merit. Review current management structure and hire external company to come speak to existing staff with no come backs on how you can improve you organisation. You will be surprise of how many good staff you don’t reconise. You need to start making SCC a employer of choice not employer of hell.
